Blink Blink!

It’s funny that of all many beautiful things in this world, only a few that you can hold them in your hands. This, of course, not to be taken literally unless you are the type that defines beauty as being able to regularly brag and get cheap thrills with newfangled multicolour blinking hand phones. For the first time in my life, I have something that naturally blinks in my hands, besides hand phones. Not really a fan of bug myself, but the sight of this tiny twinkling insect dancing on my palm was simply enthralling.

Here’s some facts to chew: The Firefly or Lightning Bug (Photuris pyralis). They don't bite, they have no pincers, they don't attack, they don't carry disease, they are not poisonous, they don't even fly very fast.

Admittedly, to come 60km off KL just to look at some creepy-crawly may not be the ideal outing one would wish for. The more I thought how silly that could be, the more syrupy I become. I don’t know if this peculiar feeling is a sign of me turning soft. But surely, it’s an emotion that has long gone from my sensory nerves. (Yes, I’m talking more than just the Lightning Bug here).

I was drawn to this one “Firefly” that twinkled in her own pace, flying aimlessly and gently alighted on my right thumb. Instantly, I shuddered when she struck my heart with this pleasantly weird feeling. I know it’s time to say what I felt. Straight away, I whispered, hoping that she listens.

Woohoo… going too ridiculously clichéd here. Regardless, it was indeed a moment to treasure.
